The following story is from Suzanne, now living in France. Suzanne had contacted me through the Coalition Against Abuse in Relationships / Coalition Contre l’Abus dans les Relations to inquire about starting a support group. I asked her to share her story.

I understand so much more now.

I remember one day being in the staffroom at the school where I was working, the previous evening there had been a programme on TV about abused women. A woman said, “They must enjoy that kind of thing in some perverted way, why else would they stay ?”
